Family Background

My name is Shih-Wei, Yao. There are four members in my family, including my parents, my elder brother and me. My father is an engineer on machinery. He works hard and responsibly. He goes to work in the early morning, and comes home late every day. Therefore, I don’t have many chances to get along with him. But when he is at home, he will teach us that haste makes waste. He hopes that we can think twice before we handle affairs. He doesn’t want to see us correct same error again and again. My mother is a hairdresser as well as housewife. She has to give consideration to us and her customers. Though it is tiring and often makes her exhausted, she never complains. My elder brother is a college student. He is the person who understands me most. Whenever he comes back, he always talks to me about his personal experiences. He is my best teacher. Although my family is not the most perfect one, but I am glad to grow up with my wonderful family members.

School Life

     I studied in Department of Applied Foreign Languages, National Tainan Commercial Vocational Senior High School (NTCVS). I’m glad that I choose this school and meet my teacher and my friends who are so kind and friendly to me. At first, I was not interested in English and my English ability was not very good. But with their help and recommendation, I found that English was not so boring as I had thought. Actually, it’s very interesting. In these three years, my English ability had improved a lot, including reading and oral speaking skills.

      Most impressed memory was that I voluntarily served as the assistant of my Chinese teacher. I often made some mistakes in the beginning, such as forgetting to bring the homework back and transmitting the wrong messages. I was so sad that I couldn’t do this work well; therefore, I wanted to quit the position of an assistant of Chinese teacher. With my teacher’s encouragement, I tried it again with confidence. I thank all of my classmates for tolerating my mistakes, and giving second chances to me. Now, I think that I am a conscientious assistant. I always carry a note to write down what the teacher says. Before the test, I will inform my classmates.  What a valuable experience.

    I am Tao. My English name is Angela. I am 17 years old. I am from Taipei First Girls' High School. I come from a well-to-do family. My mother passed away when I was in my first junior high year. My father is a computer engineer and remarried three years ago. My stepmother is an elementary school teacher. So I have a sweet stepbrother, who is now in the sixth grade. My grandparents live with us as well. My family get along pretty well.
    Throughout my school years, my academic results have always been pretty good, except in the second half of the first year and the first half of the second year. It is because my mother's death was such a trauma to me. It took me more than a year to get better. My father was afraid that I would turn bad after that. So he encouraged me to join many extra-curricular activities. He sent me to piano class, ballet class and art class.
    His purpose was that through music and art, I would find a way to release my pain so that my heart would be comforted. I am very grateful to my father's caring and thoughtful consideration. Ever since then, music is my spiritual guide and gradually becomes my most intimate companion. I then practice the piano very hard and make up my mind to become a pianist.
    In my high school years, I have taken any chance to participate in school activities. I join the choir and jazz club, both clubs offering plenty of contests and performances for many occasions. We have won many contests and had been invited by the Mayor to perform in City Hall. I am also the member of art club, for I enjoy sketching and painting very much.
    Every time when I have chance, I would go to the music theater to listen to symphony and orchestra performances. There is not once I would not be moved by the music. I really admire those musicians' talent, passion and dedication to music. I wish one day I would be able to become one of them, performing on the stage and touring around the world.       My name is Yang. I am 17 years old. My English name is Wendy. There are seven people in my family, and I am the second child among five. My father is the undertaker of a factory and my mother is a housewife. My sister is a university student, while my younger sisters and brothers are junior high school students. Luckily, I have a happy family with open-minded parents and have a life with affluent materials.
      Since I was a kindergarten student, I enjoyed singing and dancing very much. Usually, I volunteered to perform in front of the class. I remember then, I liked to watch variety shows, and that’s how I learned to sing popular songs. Those singers and actors who perform in TV programs are my idols. Every time we hold the birthday celebration for my grandparents, it is me who have to imitate the singers in front of the relatives to amuse them. I felt entertaining people is such a great enjoyment.
Throughout my school time, I have been a regular student in study, but have excellent performance on various activities. Speech, painting, singing contests are my battlefield and the place for me to win my honor. Besides, I have wide range of hobbies. I enjoy reading novels, seeing movies, swimming, mountain hiking, roller-staking and overseas traveling. Also I join the badminton and drama clubs. I spend most of my time in the drama club after school, for every one of our club members has to undertake the role of both the performer and the staff. There are so many works to be done before a play is ready and all of our club members have to contribute ourselves what we are good at. While working with those vigorous and creative fellows I never feel tired or bored.
      This summer, my drama club produces a play called ”Aladdin” as our graduation ceremony show. I played Aladdin’s mother, a comic role in the play with greedy and sarcastic characteristics. Because it was a musical, all the actors had to sing and dance at the same time. And thanks to the professional teachers who volunteered to instruct us, we even did the chorus during the play, which was a quartet with fantastic dancing. During the holidays we came to school doing rehearsals and made the costume and by this creative stage world that I stared to think very seriously that whether it was a dream for me to pursuit. My parents tell me to do what I want but not what I am expected to and this is why I decided to apply myself to the drama department.
     I want to become a stage actress as other companies who have the same ideal.
    To me, a play not only can offer people entertainment, but also in many times, it can provide people a different point of view toward lives. Compare to those with full trained skill, who come from a professional school, maybe I am far too idealistic and naive. I know nothing is easy and I think to be a drama department student would be a big challenge. I have learned a line from my English teacher that is, ”Not until you give it a try will you know the result.” I got passion and expectation to myself, wish you would give me a opportunity to make my dream come true.

Best of the semester III

           Everyone may dream a variety of dreams, such as a bad dream. But they do not remember them. I have an exciting dream which I have remember for a long time. I dreamed I was an eagle which had sharp eyes and beautiful feathers. One day, when I was standing on the trunk and looking at the quarry eating the weeds, the last person that I wanted to meet found me. He trained his shotgun on my heart and shot me. I found the hunter and tried to evade the attack, but it was too late. The bullet shot on my wing. Therefore, I fell down from the tree. The hunter walked to me. He said that he wanted my beautiful feathers. I was very scared. After he tried to shoot me again, I quickly shouted at him. I said that he could not kill me because I would do something useful to him. However, the hunter suspected that I would not keep my promise. As a result, I vowed that if I lost my promise, I would let him kill me. Consequently, we reached an agreement and I became his efficient assistant and good friend.

Best of the semester II

         Though, many elders think that comic books are worthless. But in my view, comic books are important and useful. There are some reasons why I say that. First of all, I can have a conversation with other people about comic books. We can exchange some ideas of comic books and discuss which characters we like. Maybe we will become good friends in the end, such as Amber, who is my best friend. We always share our comic books with each other. Moreover, I can learn lots of things that I don’t know. For instance, I learn how to blend multiple ingredients into a delicious drink. When I read Japanese comic books, I can learn many vocabularies and grammar. Besides, I can get the latest information about their country. Last and most important, I can relax when I pay my attention to read comic books. I don’t need to think annoying things. What I need to do is follow my emotions. If the character meets some villains and gets hurt, I will very angry and want to help the character. If the character is happy, I will feel the same. From what I have said, comic books play an important role in my life. And I always say that they are my spiritual food.

In addition, they can improve their pronunciation and intonation by listening people while talking. Knowing more idioms, general vocabulary, and technical words is another effect. It can help people quickly blend into the regional conditions, instead of feeling isolated. Most importantly, they will learn how to use the correct usages. For example, if people commit an error in grammar, next time they will not make the same mistake again. According to the effects above, I think that it is the best short cut to learn English well. If I have a chance to go to an English-speaking country, such as America, I must hold this chance and improve my speaking skills.

Another reason is that the age of residents in the Fairfax was almost forty to sixty. Most of the middle-age people didn’t like hip-hop and rock music. Finally, the hours of opening were so short that there were few clients. Besides, Saturday and Sunday were the peak time, but Michael’s store didn’t open on these two days. To sum up, if Michael had observed in advance, he would not have closed down his store.

Natural enemies disappear; animals which are suppressed by those experimental animals will have an impact on our life. Last but not least, animals are different from humans in many ways. Something is good for animals may have a bad influence on humans. It is for all the above-mentioned reasons that I believe we can’t use animals in laboratory experiments.

After having a careful consideration, I choose the apartment called Campus Apartments rather than Fairfax Apartments. It’s because its rent is much cheaper than Fairfax Apartments’. Unlike Fairfax Apartments, Campus Apartments is unfurnished. But I can rent some used-hand furniture. Most importantly, Campus Apartments allow keep pets. Sometimes, if I miss my family, my pet can company with me, and I’m no longer lonely. Moreover, Campus Apartments are my best choice.

      Though, many elders think that comic books are worthless. But in my view, comic books are important and useful. There are some reasons why I say that. First of all, I can have a conversation with other people about comic books. We can exchange some ideas of comic books and discuss which characters we like. Maybe we will become good friends in the end, such as Amber, who is my best friend. We always share our comic books with each other. Moreover, I can learn lots of things that I don’t know. A Disappointed Trip (revised I)

      One day on summer vacation, my father proposed to watch the sunrise. Because this was our first time,  the whole family was exhilarative. We prepared what we needed in a cheerful mood. The day before watching the sunrise, I was so excited that I nearly couldn’t fall asleep. What I did was to think to myself that watching the sunrise was my dream that I wanted to do most and that I finally would carry out. At three a.m., we started our sunrise trip. About two hours latter, we finally arrived at the Mt. A-li. Although the weather was so cold that my fingers and my face stiffed, I still tried hard to reach the top of the mountain with the strong wind blowing. When we reached the top, I took out my camera which I had prepared for a long time. We waited and waited. But we didn’t see anything. What we saw was thick cloud. We went back to the car disappointedly and didn’t say any word with a tired body. After this trip, no one proposed to watch the sunrise again.

One day, when I was standing on the trunk and looking at the quarry eating the weeds, the last person that I wanted to meet found me. He trained his shotgun on my heart and shot me. I found the hunter and tried to evade the attack, but it was too late. The bullet shot on my wing. Therefore, I fell down from the tree. The hunter walked to me. He said that he wanted my beautiful feathers. I was very scared. After he tried to shoot me again, I quickly shouted at him. I said that he could not kill me because I would do something useful  to him. However, the hunter suspected that I would not keep my promise. As a result, I vowed that if I lost my promise, I would let him kill me.Consequently, we reached an agreement and I became his effcient assistant and good friend.
